Supermarkets: Coles, Woolworths, ALDI

The project.

Supermarket floors take a beating: trolleys, pallet jacks, refrigerated cases and constant cleaning. We’ve floored more than 50 Coles, Woolworths and ALDI stores across South East Queensland, regional Queensland and northern NSW, for ten different builders.

The work ranges from new stores and full refurbishments to eCom fit-outs and front-of-store upgrades. In a refurbishment we lift the old floor, prepare the slab and lay the new one, often overnight so the store can open each morning, programmed area by area with the builder.

Coles Annerley, pictured, is our current store: Karndean Opus terrazzo-look vinyl across the trading floor, and Armstrong sheet vinyl coved up the walls in back of house and the Liquorland store. At Woolworths Newstead we laid around 2,700 m² of Polyflor Expona concrete-look tile on night shifts.

What we’re installing.

• Trading floorsHeavy-duty vinyl tile, plank and sheet to each retailer’s specification, such as Polyflor Expona at Woolworths and Karndean Opus and Armstrong Armalon at Coles, set out to the store plan and finished for trolley and pallet traffic.
• Back of house, cool rooms and amenitiesSafety and heavy-duty sheet vinyl such as Armstrong Safeguard R11 and Armalon, coved up the walls with heat-welded seams for hygiene and wash-down, or grind and seal where the concrete stays exposed.
• Offices and staff areasCarpet tiles from Interface and Milliken, and Tarkett iQ Granit sheet vinyl, including the static-dissipative grade at ALDI Brendale.
• Floor preparationLifting the existing floor, diamond grinding, and Ardex levelling, skim coats and moisture barriers where they’re in our scope.
• Staging and accessNight shifts and staged handovers around trading, programmed section by section with the builder.
