Technical bulletins
Plain-English guides for builders, project managers and design teams on the issues that hold up flooring. Written by our Managing Director, a Cert III floorer, and free to download and share.
Our bulletins.
Each one covers what the standard requires, what goes wrong on site, and what to allow for at tender.
BFTB-001: Moisture in concrete substrates
Why slabs stay wet, what AS 1884:2021 requires, what moisture failure looks like, and how to plan for it at tender rather than mid-program. Version 1.1, October 2026.
BFTB-002: Silica dust and RCS
What compliant diamond grinding looks like: on-tool extraction, H-class vacuums, P2 respirators and exclusion zones, and what head contractors should check in a flooring SWMS. Version 1.1, October 2026.
BFTB-003: Wet-area and engineered screeds
Why sand and cement screeds fail under sheet vinyl, what AS 1884, the NCC and AS 3740 require for falls to waste, our full Ardex system, and the details that make or break a wet area. Version 1.0, October 2026.
Why we publish these.
Most flooring disputes start with something nobody raised at tender: a wet slab, a grinding scope priced without proper dust controls, or floor preparation that was assumed rather than allowed for. These bulletins put those issues on the table early, in writing, so builders can plan for them.
Use them, share them with your team, and attach them to tender reviews. If there’s a flooring issue your projects keep running into, tell us at estimating@brizfloors.com.au and it may become the next bulletin.
